Following up on my Zack Snyder info, as I said, I asked my insiders about the state of the DCU.
Many fans are disappointed with James Gunn’s recent work, finding the stories too silly and objecting to his inclusion of political viewpoints.
Apparently, several DC Universe projects stalled not because the scripts were lacking, according to James Gunn, but because the directors preferred to follow their own creative ideas and didn’t want Gunn to overly influence their work.

I recently learned about the situation with James Mangold’s *Swamp Thing* project. Here’s what happened: Mangold signed a major deal with David Ellison and Skydance Paramount. This has put both *Swamp Thing* and his planned Star Wars movie in question, although some reports suggest they might still move forward, potentially as spin-off projects.
Apparently, James Gunn has shifted his focus from his initial project, “Gods and Monsters,” to a new one now titled “Superman Family.” This new project is entirely Gunn’s vision.
Development in the DCU is taking longer than expected because the filmmakers involved have different ideas for their projects than James Gunn does. These differing visions are the main reason for the delays.
Plus, with Warner Bros. Discovery being sold, James Gunn’s DC Universe projects probably have some restrictions. That’s likely why he’s moving forward with his own projects – to release them quickly before the sale is finalized.
What’s that say? More to come…
