In response to significant public criticism, DC Comics has announced the termination of Gretchen Felker-Martin’s “Red Hood” series, which had only been released for a single issue.
Initially, we launched the first edition on a Wednesday. However, it seems that DC has decided not to proceed with any further releases.

DC’s Statement to Retailers
In a communication to comic book stores, DC announced that they are terminating existing orders for issues 2 and 3 of Red Hood, as well as any future orders within the series. As compensation, DC Comics will provide retailers with credit for all billed copies of Red Hood #1, which includes copies that might have already been sold.
Why the Series Was Canceled
In response to PopVerse’s query about the reasons for the cancellation, DC Comics made a statement emphasizing their commitment to both creators and the community. They uphold the freedom of individuals to express their personal opinions peacefully. Comments or posts that might be perceived as inciting hostility or violence are contrary to the standards DC Comics expects in conduct.
Background
The action taken is a response to criticism towards Felker-Martin, who publicly expressed approval for the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk on social platforms.

Prior to launching the mature-themed ongoing “Red Hood” series by DC Comics in 2025, Felker-Martin had previously penned a short story in Harley Quinn #41, which was published in 2024.
Charlie Kirk, creator of Turning Point USA, met with tragedy at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, during an event he was hosting. Tragically, he was fatally shot on stage. Shortly after, President Donald Trump announced his passing. Utah Governor Spencer Cox labeled the shooting a “political assassination,” and federal officials have initiated a search for the suspect, with the intention of apprehending them.
