Crunchyroll is hoping its popular anime film, *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle*, will be nominated for an Oscar. The movie has been incredibly popular, and Crunchyroll thinks its impressive animation and story deserve to be recognized.
Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini told The Hollywood Reporter that he believes the film is exceptional, praising its animation, story, and overall quality. He stated that the dedicated fanbase definitely deserves recognition for the movie, including potential awards consideration.
As a huge film fan, I was really pleased to hear that Purini confirmed the company will fully back the movie’s awards campaign. They’re going to make sure it gets submitted for consideration in every category it qualifies for – which is fantastic! They want to give it the best possible shot at recognition.
The movie isn’t just popular because of marketing – it’s genuinely doing well. It’s broken numerous records and earned a lot of money in just 12 days in U.S. theaters, and its success is happening globally.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is an animated action movie based on the popular manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. It adapts the ‘Infinity Castle’ story arc from the manga.
This movie continues the story right after season four of the anime and follows previous films like *Mugen Train* (2020), *To the Swordsmith Village* (2023), and *To the Hashira Training* (2024). Instead of being a recap of existing episodes, *Infinity Castle* is a complete movie that fully explores a major story arc. It’s also the first of three planned movies, which were announced in June 2024.
The movie, directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable with a script from the studio’s team, first came out in Japan on July 18th. Crunchyroll then released it in parts of Asia in August, and later expanded its release to other countries in September.

Most critics loved the film’s thrilling action, beautiful visuals, and engaging story, although a few mentioned some moments felt a little slow.
Crunchyroll thinks *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* could be nominated for an Oscar, thanks to its passionate fanbase, excellent animation, and huge success in theaters.
