Comedian, Writer and SNL Star Devon Walker Shares His Travel Hacks and Go-To Essentials

Devon Walker constantly keeps busy. On those bustling days, he prefers the dependable knits and must-have suits from Theory’s Motion Wool Collection. They are ideal for both on-stage performances and travel escapades.

Moab is truly unique – it’s just a quick two-hour flight from the busy San Francisco International Airport, yet upon arrival at its small airport, you find yourself surrounded by thousands of square miles of breathtaking red rock landscapes and national parks. The atmosphere that envelopes Moab has a special charm all its own.

From crucial necessities to spontaneous errands, join us as Walker offers insights into his readiness for the road. Catch a peek into the high-speed lifestyle that he navigates – and the fashion that propels him forward.

As he packed for his trip, the comedian revealed his preferred travel items, along with some handy advice to ensure seamless travels. “I always make sure I have my headphones,” he mentions, “There’s nothing worse than finding out you forgot them when you step outside your house.” He considers himself a bit of an overpacker — better safe than sorry — and proceeded to list his essential items such as chapstick, sneakers, loafers, a book, white t-shirts, a comfortable neck pillow, and naturally, the Theory Clinton Blazer and Curtis Drawstring pants.

The Clinton Coat is designed to be both light and meticulously fitted, made from a blend of Italian wool. It boasts practical details like passport and phone pockets for added convenience. The Curtis Trousers pair perfectly with it, offering side slip pockets, a hook-and-zip fastener, and an internal drawstring for easy adjustment.

The Motion Collection is designed for seamless mobility, regardless of distance or time spent – however, even the most enjoyable travel days can have their difficulties, such as lengthy layovers and the familiar annoyance of a pushy seat companion. “My biggest pet peeve when traveling is getting stuck in the middle seat. It’s absolutely disheartening. And it really grinds my gears when people recline their seats without thinking about others. I believe people should be more mindful of that – I’m a person with feelings, a family, and loved ones [laughs]. I also think we shouldn’t go barefoot on the plane; it’s unsanitary.

While it’s inevitable to encounter the occasional travel nightmare due to his busy career, Walker finds himself fortunate enough to visit numerous appealing locations. He’s graced stages across the nation, ranging from his home base in New York City to Los Angeles, but his preferred performance venue is Chicago. “It’s one of my favorite cities,” he admits. “I adore places that aren’t as chaotic as New York, yet still offer fantastic dining experiences. Chicago stands out for its independent music venues as well.”

Travel mishaps are sometimes unavoidable given Walker’s fast-paced career, but the perk is he gets to explore many attractive destinations. He’s showcased his talent in cities nationwide, from New York City to Los Angeles, but Chicago remains his favorite place to perform. “It’s one of my top cities,” he says. “I appreciate places that aren’t as hectic as New York, but still boast fantastic eateries. And let me tell you, Chicago has some amazing independent music venues!
