In Fall/Winter 2025, Japanese designer Chitose Abe showcased her interpretation of modern femininity in fashion through the sacai collection. She emphasized sensitivity as a key element, reflecting the unsettling global political climate we are experiencing. By focusing on the female form and blending styles, the FW25 collection presents an innovative fusion of silhouettes that enhance sacai’s traditional designs.
Abe’s designs reimagined conventional outlines in innovative and alluring manners, encouraging femininity to strut the catwalk. Essential wool blazers incorporated scarves as a built-in feature, which could be worn swinging or slung over one shoulder, while collared button-down shirts merged into embellished skirts with corset-like adornments. Hoodies with ribbed textures were coupled with straight-cut cargo pants that gleamed from reflective embellishments and fluffy accessories transformed into ruffled dresses for women who exude self-assurance.
In other parts of the collection, the designer honored the memory of late American visual artist Man Ray by projecting his sensual photos onto textured gowns adorned with cuts and fur. Traditionally large silhouettes were scaled back to accentuate the body’s natural curves, using asymmetrical designs, vibrant colors, and striking pops of color to keep things fresh and attractive.
