Cambridge Audio recently introduced the Melomania A100, their most advanced earbuds to date. This well-respected brand, known for its high-fidelity speakers and audio equipment since 1968, has drawn upon more than five decades of expertise in crafting their latest product. They claim these new earbuds offer their renowned sound quality in a compact, exceptionally comfortable design.
The Melomania A100 earbuds have a stemmed design, unlike the stemless predecessor Melomania M100. Instead of the previous design, Cambridge Audio has opted for a style similar to AirPods for these new earbuds. They are equipped with custom-tuned 10mm drivers and Class AB amplification, which the company claims contribute to delivering their distinctive “Cambridge Sound.” The earbuds also feature a seven-band adjustable EQ with six presets, and users can create their own customizable sound profiles based on different genres or listening modes. Additionally, Cambridge Audio has incorporated its exclusive “DynamEQ” technology, which maintains balance in the music even at low volumes.
The Melomania A100 boasts touch controls that users can personalize, offering six microphones in each earbud. These microphones serve dual purposes: they enhance call quality and facilitate active noise cancellation (ANC) as well as transparency modes. As for connectivity, the earbuds employ Bluetooth 5.4 technology, allowing them to be paired with two devices simultaneously.
In terms of battery duration, the Melomania A100 offers up to 39 hours of music playback when Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is turned off, with approximately 11 hours usage from a single charge. If ANC is activated, you can expect around 6.5 hours of use. Additionally, Cambridge Audio states that a quick 10-minute charge gives you up to 3 more hours of playback. The charging case can store an additional 28 hours of battery life.
The Melomania A100 earbuds offer versatile compatibility with various audio formats such as LDAC, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, AAC, and SBC. These codecs facilitate wireless playback of uncompressed audio, enabling users to enjoy the full potential of high-definition streaming platforms like Tidal.
To conclude, the Melomania A100 earbuds boast an IPX5 water resistance rating, making them resilient against sweat and dust, and suitable for use even in light rain showers. Additionally, Cambridge Audio has introduced a revamped and redesigned version of its Melomania Connect app, compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
The brand new Cambridge Audio earbuds, known as Melomania A100, can be purchased now in two hues – white or black – via their website across Europe and Asia at a price point of £119 GBP / €139 EUR. These will be introduced later this year in the U.S., with an anticipated cost of $149 USD.
