On a Friday, it was officially announced that the Cadillac Formula 1 team, supported by TWG Motorsports and General Motors, will join as the 11th team in the 2026 racing lineup, as confirmed by the FIA and Formula 1 Management.

In November, as we mentioned, General Motors’ pledge to field a Cadillac team in Formula 1 was a significant and encouraging sign of the growth within our sport. Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, expressed this appreciation, stating, “I am grateful for GM and TWG Motorsports’ collaborative efforts over several months. I eagerly anticipate their arrival on the track from 2026, promising yet another thrilling season for Formula 1.

Since it was announced that Cadillac aims to compete in Formula 1, they have hired over 200 individuals to contribute in areas such as aerodynamics, chassis design, component development, software, and vehicle dynamics simulation. The team emphasized that their development efforts will proceed swiftly in preparation for their debut on the grid next year.

Significantly, during the past few months, Cadillac appointed Graeme Lowdon as its Team Principal, who previously held the position of Sporting Director at Marussia. Additionally, they named Russ O’Blenes as the CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units, a role that is highly influential within the industry.

Lowdon expressed his immense pride in the hard work shown by the entire Cadillac Formula 1 team so far. He added that this announcement represents a crucial move towards competing on the grid and progressing towards establishing a top-tier team. Despite the lengthy and meticulous application process, we never faltered in our preparations or wavered in our commitment to our goal. We’re eagerly anticipating racing and offering fans a fresh team to support.
