Bryan Fuller, the creator of the TV show Hannibal, has shared his dream of making a limited series based on The Silence of the Lambs.
According to an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival with ScreenRant, it’s suggested that he desires Zendaya to take on the role of Clarice Starling and for Mads Mikkelsen to reprise his character as Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
The characters of Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter were initially presented in Thomas Harris’ books such as “Red Dragon,” “Hannibal,” and “Hannibal Rising.” Clarice, a character known for her intelligence and resourcefulness, has left a lasting impact on modern thriller narratives due to her captivating screen persona.
Over the years, she has been portrayed by several actors, with Jodie Foster’s performance in the 1991 film being the most famous. Julianne Moore and Rebecca Breeds have also played her in later adaptations.
During an interview about his latest horror movie titled “Dust Bunny” starring Mads Mikkelsen, Fuller shared his aspirations. When asked if he’d consider a return for Hannibal, Fuller expressed his ideal project: a limited TV series of Silence of the Lambs featuring both Mads Mikkelsen and Zendaya as Clarice Starling. If given the chance, anything he would wish for, it would be to make that dream come true.
Fuller’s proposal is expected to reintroduce the psychological suspense and ominous atmosphere that made his “Hannibal” series stand out. Enthusiasts of the initial show might be thrilled at the prospect of witnessing these well-known characters in a fresh narrative, played by new cast members.
