Bruce Springsteen reveals the truth about his wealth

As a long-time fan who has followed Bruce Springsteen‘s career since his early days, I must say that this recent Forbes billionaire listing controversy has been quite intriguing. While it’s always exciting to see one of your idols make it big financially, there’s something endearing about The Boss maintaining his humility amidst such success.

As a devoted fan, I’ve found it’s often wisest to let my boss have the final word, though exceptions might occur with different managers. However, when it comes to The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, there won’t be any debates about who gets the last say. This no-dispute rule holds a significant weight in this context, for multiple reasons.

Previously in the summer, it was disclosed by Forbes magazine that Springsteen had surpassed the threshold for their billionaire list. The publication conducts extensive research and evaluation to compile and rank the world’s wealthiest individuals. Their findings demonstrated that Springsteen’s fortune had grown significantly enough to warrant his inclusion on this list.

Based on records, it was approximated that his net worth stood at around $1.1 billion, barely making the cutoff. However, this figure might have some leeway, keeping him close to the threshold. A significant addition to Springsteen’s wealth came from selling his collection of songs back catalog to Sony Music’s Columbia Records in 2021 for a staggering $500 million. Moreover, he has consistently supplemented this with an extensive tour schedule that shows no signs of slowing down. Even a brief illness that postponed some concerts didn’t deter him from getting back on stage with his E Street Band.

Springsteen denies billionaire wealth claim

Recently, Bruce Springsteen visited London, where he discussed the new Disney+ film titled “Road Diary,” which offers a glimpse into his and his band’s tour life. In an interview with The Telegraph (be aware of the paywall), Springsteen clarified that the Forbes billionaire list has mistakenly included him. He admitted, “I’m not a billionaire; I wish I was, but they got that wrong.” It seems he may have overspent on unnecessary items.

In other parts of the movie, he offers another potential explanation: it can’t be the same issue when it comes to finances, as it’s not unnecessary by any stretch. Springsteen discusses his relationship with the E Street Band and their dynamics during tours. He believes he has made it clear that he won’t tolerate any disputes or tense moments among the band members.

Moreover, he mentioned that they are handsomely compensated as well. Given the size and resources required for these tours, it’s clear they generate substantial income. However, managing such a large team and logistics is undoubtedly expensive.

Currently, Springsteen continues to appear on the Forbes’ list of billionaires. At present, his estimated net worth is $1.1 billion according to their real-time ranking. With The Boss’ recent remarks, I suspect that Forbes’ calculators will be busy recalculating his wealth soon.
