Bowers & Wilkins Launches ‘Pi8 McLaren Edition’ Earbuds

For years, the esteemed British audio brand Bowers & Wilkins has maintained a tight bond with the automotive sector, and most recently, they’ve extended this partnership with McLaren – a connection that began in 2015. This alliance, which now encompasses McLaren’s Formula 1 Team, has grown even stronger over time.

The most recent outcome of their partnership is the introduction of the Pi8 McLaren Edition earbuds, which are a revised version of Bowers & Wilkins’ top-tier earbuds. These new earbuds have been given McLaren’s iconic Galvanic Grey and Papaya Orange colors. The launch of the Pi8 McLaren Edition signifies ten years of partnership between the two brands, making it the latest addition to a lineup of collaborative products inspired by McLaren, which also includes the Px8 McLaren Edition and Zeppelin McLaren Edition.

The Pi8 earbuds from Bowers & Wilkins are crafted with two 12mm Carbon Cone drivers, minimizing distortion for a clear, intricate sound quality. These earbuds represent the top offering from the brand. The brand itself refers to the Pi8’s sound as “Reference True Wireless,” implying they can reproduce reference-level audio wirelessly and highlighting their ability to capture subtle details in music that other headphone drivers may overlook. Each earbud includes a dedicated digital signal processor (DSP), amplifier, and digital-to-analog converter (DAC), enabling users to experience 24-bit audio playback and utilize a five-band customizable equalizer through the accompanying app.

Regarding its connectivity features, the Pi8 McLaren Edition boasts Bluetooth 5.4 compatibility, which supports various audio formats. These include aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX Classic, AAC, and SBC. As a result, users can wirelessly stream high-quality music files without compromise.

Each earbud is only 7 grams in weight and contains three microphones along with a battery that gives you approximately 6.5 hours of playback (with noise-cancellation activated, longer without). The charging case weighs 46 grams, offering an extra 13.5 hours of battery life. Lastly, the Pi8 earbuds have a water resistance rating of IP54.

The Pi8 McLaren Edition earbuds are available now priced at £449 GBP / €499 EUR / $499 USD.
