BMW M Hybrid V8 Gets Special 50th Anniversary Livery for 12 Hours of Sebring

BMW North America is celebrating its 50-year milestone at the 73rd running of the Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 15, where the BMW M Hybrid V8 will unveil a unique livery to honor this occasion. This distinctive design acknowledges half a century of BMW’s motorsport heritage in North America, which dates back to the iconic 1975 Sebring win by the BMW 3.0 CSL.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but marvel at the stunning livery adorning the BMW M Hybrid V8s competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC). This remarkable design cleverly incorporates significant milestones from 1975 up to the present, all elegantly woven into the iconic outline of the Sebring track.

This thoughtful nod to history serves as a testament to BMW’s enduring influence in U.S. motorsport, a legacy that traces back to the establishment of BMW North America on March 15, 1975 – a momentous occasion that occurred just days before its historic victory at Sebring.

Of particular interest is that the anniversary event will reunite two remarkable individuals: Jochen Neerpasch, a key founder of BMW Motorsport GmbH, and Brian Redman, one of the victorious drivers from the 1975 race. The distinctive design of the BMW M Hybrid V8s will be maintained throughout the IWSC season. As the #24 and #25 BMW M Hybrid V8s compete for top honors in the GTP class, BMW M Motorsport aspires to expand its legacy at Sebring. The 12-hour endurance race gets underway at 10:10 AM local time and can be watched live on IMSA Tv.
