Billie Eilish, Finneas, Joaquin Phoenix, Cillian Murphy & More Join Forces for Palestine in New Video

I’m so proud to see so many amazing Irish and international artists coming together to stand with Palestine! They’re showing their support by headlining a huge benefit concert at Wembley Stadium in London, and it’s just incredible to see.

You can watch a live event right now, hosted by Together For Palestine, featuring performances by artists like Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, King Krule, and Bastille, as announced by the event organizers.

Before the concert, a video was shared online with actors, musicians, and other well-known people to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza and protest Israel’s actions there.

The event featured a diverse group of performers and activists, including Irish actors like Cillian Murphy, Chris O’Dowd, Sharon Horgan, Caitriona Balfe, and Laura Whitmore. It also included well-known international figures such as Brian Cox, Malala Yousafzai, Billie Eilish with her brother Finneas, and Joaquin Phoenix. This information comes from Together For Palestine and The Guardian, which published an article by Brian Eno, one of the concert’s organizers.

The video features celebrities speaking out against the current violence and encouraging people to take action. Actor Steve Coogan emphasized the importance of speaking up immediately, stating, “It’s important to speak out now, not when this is over. Right now, while it’s happening. For Palestine.” Michael Wayne Rosen added that they believe the country’s leaders are involved in the killing of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.

The message urged people to push their governments to call for an immediate ceasefire and to back peaceful efforts to achieve justice. The group stated, “It’s our duty to share the reality of what’s happening to the Palestinian people. Throughout history, artists have always had a responsibility to speak up and challenge those in power, even when it’s difficult.”

A new video features support for Palestine from celebrities like Billie Eilish, Finneas, Cillian Murphy, Joaquin Phoenix, Annie Mac, and Peter Gabriel. The video is released ahead of today’s Together For Palestine benefit concert.

It’s significant that Cillian Murphy has spoken out, as he’s usually been hesitant to publicly discuss the situation in Gaza. His decision to do so, along with similar statements from other public figures, marks a notable instance of celebrities using their platform for activism.

During the European premiere of the film *Steve* in Cork, writer Max Porter spoke about the devastating situation in Gaza, stating that a child has been killed in Palestine nearly every hour for the past 800 days. Cillian Murphy’s calm demeanor at the event and in an associated video has since been widely noticed.

A benefit concert at Wembley Stadium will raise money for humanitarian aid in Gaza. All funds will be managed by the Together For Palestine Fund and delivered to organizations through the charity Choose Love. The concert will feature performances by artists like Damon Albarn, Bastille, James Blake, Jamie xx, Sampha, as well as Palestinian musicians Adnan Joubran, Faraj Suleiman, and Nai Barghouti.

The celebrities concluded the video by directly urging for peace, stating, “Together for Palestine. Stop the killing. Ceasefire now.”

The involvement of well-known celebrities is helping to shine a spotlight on the crisis in Gaza. By using their influence, these artists are helping to share the stories of those who are often not heard. I’m curious to know what you think – do you believe this kind of celebrity activism actually makes a positive impact? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
