Look, as a movie fan, I’ve seen a lot of interview fluff, but Ben Affleck really seemed genuine when he was talking about Teyana Taylor. He wasn’t just giving her the usual polite praise – he truly meant it, and that’s pretty cool to see.
Ben Affleck recently told Entertainment Weekly that Taylor Swift’s current popularity isn’t surprising to him, as he’s been aware of her talent and appeal while working with her on their new Netflix movie, ‘The Rip’.
Ben Affleck shared that he spoke with Paul Thomas Anderson, who, like many others, was highly impressed with the actress. He also mentioned that Leonardo DiCaprio had similar positive feedback when they talked. Affleck emphasized that these were personal conversations, and the actress herself is surprisingly down-to-earth, exceeding expectations.
Matt Damon, also appearing in The Rip, shared similar praise. He spoke highly of Taylor’s dedication and personality, calling her “awesome” and emphasizing her professionalism and kindness. He noted it’s been rewarding to see others recognize the talent people in the film industry have long known she possesses.
Taylor’s recent success isn’t a surprise – she’s been building her career since she was a teenager. She started in the music industry at 15, working with major artists like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Kanye West. Before her critically acclaimed role in A Thousand and One, she appeared in films such as Stomp the Yard: Homecoming and Madea’s Big Happy Family.
Affleck also expressed his admiration for Taylor’s future plans. He revealed that she’s scheduled to direct her first movie next year, and highlighted how dedicated and well-prepared she is. He added that she has a strong understanding of where she is now, combined with incredible drive and skill.
In the new series The Rip, Taylor plays Numa Baptiste, a Miami detective—a very different role from her previous character in One Battle After Another, where she played a revolutionary involved in robberies and bombings. Both roles have been critically acclaimed, and with her recent Golden Globe win, she’s receiving a lot of awards season attention.
Affleck thinks this is just the start of something big. He said, “I truly believe this isn’t a single event, but the beginning of a long and successful career.”
