The popular 1990s TV show Baywatch is getting a new version on Fox, following the trend of reviving classic series. According to Variety, they’re holding open auditions for all roles – from the main characters to smaller parts. The casting call for the new Baywatch series asks applicants to come dressed for the beach, but with a focus on polished professionalism. While beachwear is encouraged, they specifically request that outfits aren’t too revealing. So, leave the tiny bikinis and Speedos at home, even if you’re in great shape! Auditions will be held at the Marina Del Rey Marriott in Southern California. However, David Hasselhoff believed in the show and brought it back through syndication. It was in syndication that Baywatch really took off, becoming incredibly popular, especially around the world. The show successfully introduced an idealized version of American beach life to international audiences. Given how different television is today, it’s hard to say if Baywatch could be as big a hit now. Hopefully, any new version will fare better than the 2017 comedy movie starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron, which most people have already forgotten.
