A recent rumor claims Marvel Studios may have unexpectedly pulled some prominent actors from the initial marketing for Avengers: Doomsday.
During a recent livestream, Gary Buechler from Nerdrotic said the first promotional video showing the cast’s names on the production chairs originally featured Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Owen Wilson, and Ke Huy Quan. He claims their footage was removed right before the video was released.
If confirmed, this would further complicate the already confusing rumors about Marvel’s most anticipated film since Avengers: Endgame.
Rumor: Four Big Names Removed From Original Promo
Nerdrotic reports that Marvel filmed scenes revealing the actors playing each role, seating them with the rest of the Doomsday cast during the process.
Gary explained that these scenes were filmed for the official announcement video, but Marvel removed them just before it was released.
He points out the video footage is available and believes the decision was probably made because the actors hadn’t officially committed to the project.
Why Marvel May Have Pulled the Footage
People are guessing that Marvel hadn’t yet signed contracts with Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Tessa Thompson, or Ke Huy Quan when the trailer was planned for release.
Even if the movie was filmed, the actors couldn’t be featured in advertisements or promotional materials without proper contracts.
Marvel probably removed the footage to prevent fans from assuming it was official when it wasn’t confirmed.
Ryan Reynolds hinted at his participation on social media, suggesting the agreement might have been finalized after the initial announcement. Alternatively, Marvel could be planning a second wave of announcements to reveal the cast.

Recent reports suggest Marvel has produced three different trailers for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released over the next three weeks. Each trailer will feature unique scenes and build upon a larger, connected narrative.
Marvel is also releasing Endgame in theaters before the arrival of Doomsday.
