The ‘Claws of Awaji’ DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows features mostly simple missions, but one stands out as particularly challenging. You’ll need to eliminate Tomeji, a strong bodyguard who works for Kimura Yuakri. You *can* immediately attempt to fight him, but doing so will also pit you against all fourteen of his skilled captains – a battle that’s nearly impossible to win right away.
If you want to defeat Tomeji, you can hunt down his captains. However, it’s not easy! As you progress, these captains won’t stay in one place. They’ll appear randomly when you do specific things in the game.
Okay, so I’ve been trying to finish the ‘Dismantling One by One’ quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and honestly, finding those captains to spawn can be a pain! I’ve figured out the best ways to get them to show up, and I even learned a neat little trick that makes the whole process *way* easier. I’m going to share everything I’ve discovered to help you out!
How to make Tomeji’s captains spawn – AC Shadows DLC

Although captains wander around the map, you won’t usually find many just by exploring. The best way to find them is through two specific methods.
One way to find enemy captains is by helping civilians you encounter while exploring. If you rescue someone captured by guards or offer assistance, they might tell you where a captain is hiding. Keep in mind, they could also lead you to a hidden treasure chest or a new quest instead, so it’s not a guaranteed result.
Another way to attract attention is by fighting guards in the streets. If you injure or alert some guards, they might call for a captain’s help. When this happens, a warhorn will blow, and a captain-or occasionally two-will arrive with more guards to join the fight.
There’s an easier way to find the captains: enable “guided exploration mode” in the gameplay options. This will automatically show their locations on your map, saving you the effort of searching. While it might feel like a shortcut, we believe it’s perfectly acceptable for this particular task, considering how difficult and time-consuming the usual method is.
