Apple TV+ has delayed the premiere of its new political thriller, *The Savant*, which stars Jessica Chastain.
Apple TV+ announced on Tuesday that it’s delaying the release of “The Savant.” A spokesperson for the service said they made the decision after careful thought and thanked viewers for their understanding, adding that the series will be released later on.
The company hasn’t explained why the delay happened, but sources indicate it may be connected to the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The show contains scenes of political violence, like a sniper attack, and some believe this impacted when it was released. Media sources have observed that the entertainment industry often changes its plans and content due to current events, as seen with the recent pause in Jimmy Kimmel’s show.
The TV show, *The Savant*, originated from an article by Andrea Stanley. Melissa James Gibson developed it for television, and she also oversees the show as showrunner and executive producer.
This miniseries centers on a woman nicknamed “the Savant” who goes undercover in online hate groups to stop potential attacks. Jessica Chastain stars as Jodi Goodwin, with Nnamdi Asomugha as Charlie Goodwin and Pablo Schreiber in a significant role as Jason.
Jodi appears to be a typical suburban mother during the day, but secretly investigates the most hidden and disturbing parts of the internet at night. Jessica Chastain plays the lead role in #TheSavant, which will begin streaming on Apple TV+ on September 26th.

Chastain explained that she intentionally didn’t try to perfectly imitate the real person her character was based on, wanting to protect their privacy. “I didn’t want to look or act exactly like her, to help keep her identity a secret,” she said.
The show was initially scheduled to begin airing on September 26th, with new episodes released each week until November 7th. News of Jessica Chastain joining the cast first appeared in Variety magazine in March 2023, and Nnamdi Asomugha was added to the main cast in February 2024. More actors, like James Badge Dale, were announced over the following months.
Deadline Hollywood says the premiere was delayed only three days before it was scheduled. While a new date hasn’t been set, the decision seems to be due to recent events and the show’s delicate topic.
