This isn’t your typical Hollywood biopic; instead of a glamorous retelling, it follows Lee’s life, from her beginnings as a working-class woman in Manchester, England, to becoming a spiritual leader in colonial America.
Seyfried’s acting is receiving widespread praise, with critics often calling it the best work of her career. She powerfully portrays the intense joy and suffering of a woman her followers believe to be a divine figure.

Beyond her work in this historical film, Seyfried has been incredibly busy with other recent projects. She recently appeared alongside Sydney Sweeney in the popular psychological thriller The Housemaid, which is based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling book and is currently streaming. She also took the lead role in the limited series Long Bright River, showcasing her talent in both movies and television.
The actress turned 40 in late 2025 and celebrated with a fun, retro roller-skating party with her kids and closest friends. She’s feeling content with her career, saying she’s truly grateful for where she is in life as she juggles being a mom and making important decisions about her work.
