After his ‘Noir’ show at Gagosian Los Angeles, Alex Israel collaborates with Aspen One and the Aspen Art Museum again. This acclaimed artist has crafted a tribute to Old Hollywood within the renowned Ruthie’s restaurant on Aspen Mountain. Named ‘Heaven,’ it is said to be the first art installation in the world that can be accessed both while skiing in and skiing out.
In the digital era, Israel’s interactive exhibit delves into the remembrance of famous figures through social media. This remarkable joint effort displays more than thirty lifelike portraits, ranging from uniquely crafted ski passes to a grand-scale mountain setting as the backdrop.
This display is a part of Aspen One’s dedication to showcasing modern art in surprising mountain locations, as part of their “Art in Unusual Spots” initiative, which is now celebrating its 20th anniversary.
