Acne Studios FW25 Examines the Tension Between City and Nature

In a whimsically purple-draped cube nestled in the heart of Paris, Acne Studios‘ Fall/Winter 2025 show delved into the intriguing bond between cities and nature. The runway was adorned with futuristic cityscape sculptures and striking woven artworks by Swedish design duo Front, who drew inspiration from their homeland’s breathtaking landscapes. As a nature enthusiast, I found the collection that danced around these contrasting designs deeply captivating, for it was born out of a complex blend of urban and natural elements: “The relationship between nature and urban cities has always intrigued me,” shared designer Jonny Johansson. “This collection is an expression of that fascination, exploring the tension and contrast between them.” Growing up in the Nordic region fostered within me a profound connection to the untamed beauty of nature.

The queue showcased a collection of suits and outerwear that subtly defied tradition, featuring softer, rounded, and drooping shoulder lines in an effort to embrace casualness. Loose-fitting dresses were also noticeable, exuding a more laid-back vibe, while vibrant knitted vests playfully incorporated oversized bow ties, cascading down the body.

As a devotee, I found myself deeply inspired by the vibrant energy of the ’70s, seamlessly blending the era’s iconic glam rock and disco aesthetics into contemporary fashion. Evidence of this can be seen in the collection’s assortment of fitted tops, flowing bottoms, and charming heart-shaped belts. The color palette also echoed the “Me Decade,” offering a rich mix of Bordeaux red, deep purple, golden hues, as well as warmer tones such as brown, oat, honey, and beige.

Meanwhile, the shoes moved deliberately, a rhythmic blend of peep-toe styles with curved leather heels, intertwining with more casual, worn-in penny loafers transformed into boots. This diverse footwear ensemble danced in sync to the dominant pulse of “Human Behavior” by Björk.
