Leading up to Paris Fashion Week, Acne Studios has unveiled their first permanent gallery space, Acne Paper Palais Royal, located within the historic arcades of Palais Royal in Paris. This new venue marks a fresh chapter for the Swedish brand, further establishing its involvement in art, design, and publishing, enriching its presence in these areas.
After our successful collaboration with artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase and the reintroduction of Acne Paper in 2021, this announcement marks a logical progression for the Jonny Johansson-led brand, whose history is deeply intertwined with conceptual photography and unconventional art.
The gallery, reminiscent of Acne Paper, will function as a multi-disciplinary platform for both budding and established talents creating an impact in their fields. This space, boasting a view over the beautiful garden complex, will feature rotating exhibitions, artist discussions, and book presentations, reinforcing Acne Studios’ dedication to fostering creativity across various domains.
On June 26th, the Acne Paper Palais Royal will unveil its first solo exhibition featuring works by Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker. Known for his surreal imagery that recently adorned the latest edition of Golden, this debut show titled “2025” will display 42 portraits of students from the Gerri Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. The captivating images evoke a sense of uncertainty and tension that is often tied to life’s significant moments, reminiscent of a day-in-the-life feel.

As a dedicated gamer, I can personally vouch for the fact that the gallery embodies the versatile, cross-cultural spirit that ACNE Studios is all about. This space isn’t just a nod to the brand’s roots, but also a celebration of the early days when ACNE, the creative collective focused on design and film, first emerged, paving the way for the beloved fashion house we know today.
Since its inception in 1996, Acne Studios has always viewed fashion as merely one aspect of a broader creative dialogue. With this new space, we’re embarking on a fresh chapter, staying true to our commitment to creativity and innovation.
