As a dedicated fan who has followed Ab-Soul’s journey through his poignant and powerful music, I can’t help but admire the resilience and strength that this man possesses. His latest announcement of the upcoming album “Soul Burger” is not just another release for him; it’s a testament to his survival, growth, and tribute to the memories of those who have left an indelible mark on his life.
Back in 2022, when Ab-Soul dropped the exceptional “Herbert” album, it felt like we might not get another project from him for a while. After all, it had been six long years since his last album, “Do What Thou Wilt,” which came out in 2016. As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but appreciate the time and effort he put into each track.
Today, on October 17th, Soulo unveiled both the artwork and release date for his upcoming album titled Soul Burger. The album is set to be released on November 8th. Earlier this month, he also shared the first single “Squeeze 1st 2”. It’s said that this album will serve as a tribute to his late childhood friend Armon “DoeBurger” Stringer, who tragically passed away during a home invasion in 2021.

In an interview with GQ some time ago, Ab said, “He was like my second self,” implying a close partnership. He compared their relationship to the characters Huey and Riley from The Boondocks. He explained that he experiences daily pain due to various hardships in his life, and this particular incident was one that could have either destroyed him or made him stronger. However, he assured GQ, “I am not shattered.
It seems that the rapper known as “Hollandaise” was already in distress before the tragic incident occurred, as he had attempted suicide following the completion of his album titled “Herbert“. He discussed this with Charlamagne tha God some years back and disclosed that he jumped from a highway overpass at that time.
Ab reminisced, “I had almost completed the album before the incident occurred. Looking back on it now, I see that it led me to a point where I needed to be incredibly open and exposed, a place I hadn’t been before. Once I expressed everything that was weighing on my heart, I moved on.
The TDE artist mentioned that he’s missing his teeth and hasn’t gotten his implants yet. He humorously referred to a temporary replacement as a ‘flipper’. His jaw is damaged, requiring extensive work to repair. Besides his knee, the rest of his foot, up to his pelvis, has been reconstructed. It’s strange that his knee wasn’t affected.
Ab-Soul opens up about contemplating suicide during the creation of his latest album ‘Herbert’. Thankfully, he’s in a better place now. 🌟
