Talk is already starting about a third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie. Paramount is currently planning the future of the Ninja Turtles series.
Following the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, the studio has enlisted producer Neal H. Moritz – who also worked on Sonic – to develop a new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. The movie is currently scheduled to be released on Thanksgiving weekend in 2028, specifically November 17th.
The TV series planned as a continuation of Seth Rogen’s Mutant Mayhem has been canceled, leading to speculation that the planned animated sequel may also be facing difficulties.
Despite reports of challenges, Paramount remains enthusiastic about Mutant Mayhem 2, having already invested $40 million in the project, and is still aiming for its October 2027 release date. The studio is also in discussions with Seth Rogen and his company, Point Grey, regarding the potential development of a third film.
Released in 2023, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is an animated superhero film based on the popular characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. Jeff Rowe directed the movie, and the screenplay was co-written by him, along with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Dan Hernandez, and Benji Samit. The film serves as a fresh start for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, introducing it to a new audience.
Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon provide the voices for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in this new movie. The film also stars Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Natasia Demetriou, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, and Paul Rudd. The story centers around the Turtles’ attempts to be accepted by the human world while battling a dangerous criminal named Superfly and his team of mutant followers.
Just a month after the release of the first movie in July 2023, a sequel was greenlit. The new film will feature Shredder as the primary villain, a character briefly shown at the end of Mutant Mayhem. Jeff Rowe is returning to direct, alongside co-directors Spears and Kassai. Point Grey Pictures is once again co-producing, with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Josh Fagen, and Ramsay McBean all credited as producers. Originally scheduled for release on October 9, 2026, the sequel’s release date has been pushed back to September 17, 2027.
