A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Finale Hits Series-High 9.5M Viewers

The first season finale of HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms attracted 9.5 million viewers across all platforms in the U.S. during its initial three days, according to Warner Bros. Discovery.

Up 42% from the premiere in the same time frame

Warner Bros. Discovery reports that the latest installment drew 9.5 million viewers over its first three days, which is almost a 42% increase compared to the 6.7 million viewers who watched the premiere over the same period.

Episode 5 held the prior record at 9.2M

The episode “In the Name of the Mother” was the most-watched of the season before the finale, reaching 9.2 million viewers within its first three days. The finale then surpassed that number by approximately 2%.

Season 1 averages and how it ranks for HBO Max

The first season is attracting an average of 14 million viewers in the U.S. and 26 million worldwide per episode. Warner Bros. Discovery reports this makes it the third-biggest series launch on HBO Max so far.

Season 2 already locked in, returning next year

The show was renewed for a second season in November, even before the first season aired, and Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed it will be back next year.

What the series is about and who’s involved

Taking place roughly a century before the events of Game of Thrones (and several decades after House of the Dragon), the series centers on Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his young apprentice, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), as they travel across Westeros.

The first season features a talented cast including Daniel Ings, Bertie Carvel, Danny Webb, Sam Spruell, Shaun Thomas, Finn Bennett, Edward Ashley, Tanzyn Crawford, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Daniel Monks, as well as many other actors.

George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker created and executive produce the show, with Parker leading the production as showrunner. Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith each directed several episodes.
