J Balvin’s First Electric Motorcycle Is Part Sculpture, Part Anime

Last month, J Balvin marked his significant 40th birthday by hosting a casino-themed party in Tuscany’s picturesque vineyards. Notable attendees included Daddy Yankee, Sofia Vergara, and Zion. However, the real star of the evening wasn’t a famous face but rather a unique, vibrant red electric motorcycle – the first creation from Balvin’s studio VVT (Vita Veloce Team), which he established last year in partnership with designer Mattias Gollin.

In partnership with DAB Motors, the surprise arrival of the playful motorbike left Balvin in a state of amazement. “He was aware that the DAB x VVT bike would be unveiled,” explained Gollin and Simon Dabadie, founder of DAB. “However, he had no clue as to when it would be finished. The entire production process of the motorcycle was kept confidential. Revealing it at Castello di Velona, amidst friends – that instant felt significant.

In just three short weeks, the prototype was transformed using AI-assisted design tools and 3D modeling, resulting in a unique bicycle. Blending elements of sculpture and anime, this rideable art piece boasts a stylish appearance that seems to have leaped straight from a famous Japanese animated film. Its distinctive features include enclosed wheels, a streamlined windshield, a deep matte red finish, and comprehensive graphic decals spread across its body – all part of an ambitious effort to design a machine that embodies the essence of popular anime-inspired aesthetics.

Technically speaking, this two-person motorbike can reach a maximum speed of 130 km/h. It takes about three hours and a half to fully charge it, whether you’re using a home outlet or a Type 2 charging station. From a design perspective, it offers an immersive sensory experience. The wheel covers and rims are equipped with sound-absorbing foam that generates a low-pitched hum, while the wheels themselves contain atmospheric LED lights.

Gollin and Dabadie explained, “It’s both artistic and practical; our goal was to create something that seemed like gliding through a dream.
