Vibram and STAPLE Have Your Next Summer Slide Sorted

Following the debut of their CENTRE 0.1 and Varick 0.1 sneakers, STAPLE is now embarking on a new project – a partnership with Vibram to create a contemporary slide design.

The latest addition skillfully applies the innovative StratX composite to reinvent the iconic pigeon emblem of the Jeff Staple-established brand, using a design inspired by wingspans for its upper. This makes it the initial StratX exclusive launch in the United States. Previously employed in a Slam Jam partnership and displayed at Pitti Uomo, the Vibram-designed material, crafted from rubber sheets and engineered through vacuum-forming, contours the sculpted, feathery shape while providing the slide with a flexible yet robust quality akin to leather.

Instead of considering traditional methods like printing, embroidery, or laser etching, we pondered over the idea of sculpting and molding the material instead. The solution came from Vibram’s innovative StratX compound. Rather than applying design to a surface, we aimed to sculpt the surface itself.

Besides the wavy top, the bottom part also uses a specific material to create an ergonomic, curved design with a split pattern of black and white. This design element doesn’t detract from the innovative features found throughout the slide. To finish it off, both STAPLE’s logo and Vibram’s brand mark are delicately engraved on it.

Only 50 sets will be offered for sale starting tomorrow at STAPLE’s newly established flagship store located on Mercer Street, New York City.
