As a gamer, I’d say for me, my studio window is like a gateway to a mesmerizing game world, brimming with a touch of magic. A lot of my artistic creations are inspired by the landscapes I see outside – cityscapes and lush greenery that pulse with changing emotions, intricate stories, and glimmers of optimism.

At Nanzuka Underground, the artist is set to display her upcoming solo exhibit, titled “Solitary Inn“. This exhibition offers a peek into the artist’s private realms, showcasing 15 fresh pieces that delve into tranquil, contemplative scenes, allowing recollections to surface prominently.

Arranged in a sequence of scene-like snapshots, each painting offers an intimate peek into Jang’s world of feminine figures. They seem to be suspended between daydream and the real world: reclining languidly on sofas, looking into aquarium glasses, gazing out from car backseats, or simply standing framed by a keyhole. The compositions are further enhanced by a soft, dreamy palette of colors that echo a nostalgic past while hinting at the enigma of what lies ahead.

According to Jang, the “Solitary Inn” is a fictional establishment. Unlike traditional inns, it does not require visitors; rather, each chamber serves as a personal space. In this setting, pieces of life, enduring hopes, and whispers of past memories gently dwell.

The exhibition will open on May 16 and remain on view through June 21.
