Christie’s to Auction Unique Gerald Charles Maestro GC39 Remaster Watch for Charity

Summary

  • A unique Gerald Charles Maestro GC39 Remaster will be auctioned through Christie’s on May 12, 2025
  • The watch spotlights an Australian fire opal dial with jumping hours, decorated with Meta-guilloché
  • All proceeds will benefit the Action Innocence foundation

Gerald Charles is giving a one-of-a-kind Maestro GC39 Remaster watch to Action Innocence, a foundation that works hard to protect children, teenagers, and individuals with special needs from potential dangers in the digital realm. The watch will be sold at Christie’s, with all funds raised going directly to Action Innocence.

Inside a polished 42mm titanium case, the watch showcases an Australian fire opal as its main attraction. This timepiece marries modern horology with artisanal techniques to beautifully display the opal’s mesmerizing mix of warm tones like yellow, orange, and deep red. To emphasize this central feature, the dial incorporates Meta-guilloché – a unique design inspired by traditional guilloche craftsmanship, which is exclusive to the brand.

The updated Maestro GC39 Remaster showcases a substantial advancement from its original design by Gérald Genta. Unlike the 2005 model which had sliding hours, this new version includes a complication for jumping hours. Boasting a power reserve of 50 hours, this timepiece is driven by Maison’s own Swiss Manufacture 4.0 Calibre Jumping Hours movement.

Federico Ziviani, CEO of Gerald Charles, stated, ‘Our watch isn’t just a timekeeper; it embodies hope, tradition, and meaning.’ He further explained, ‘The significance of this project resonates deeply with me, having grown up in the digital age and observed the rapid transformation and escalation of the online world. I believe my involvement extends beyond the present moment, serving as a legacy for my children’s future.’

This unique Gerald Charles Maestro GC39 Remaster wristwatch will be auctioned by Christie’s through both closed envelope and live bidding. The live auction will occur on May 12 as part of Christie’s
