Grey’s Anatomy is on a fast track to a thrilling (season) finale

This review contains SPOILERS for Grey’s Anatomy Season 21, episode 15 “Bust Your Windows.”

As each episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” unfolds live, week by week, the buildup to the season finale’s impending catastrophe feels like a gradual intensification. Yet as we near that final point, it becomes more evident how all the puzzle pieces are fitting together. Though we may not know precisely what lies ahead, we sense “something” significant is on its way. We’re all eagerly searching for hints and indications.

The clues are evident, if one looks closely enough. Simone’s career is shining more with each passing day, which has her contemplating a potentially turbulent future with Lucas. Lucas, once again, seems to be teetering on the edge of over-confidence. Teddy and Owen’s marriage appears to be stuck in a prolonged difficult phase. Link and Jo are noticeably content and relaxed as they approach the birth of their twins. The situations continue to pile up.

In truth, it often happens that situations we anticipate will turn out badly actually turn out fine. Consequently, unexpected events may catch us off guard, not in a pleasant manner. Despite the fact that you might assume Jo and the twins are safe due to their survival of numerous traumas this season, that’s how they trick you. They make you feel secure, giving you no reasons to worry, only for your concerns to eventually materialize.

As the story unfolds, skillfully balancing its large ensemble of characters and pairing them up (have Jules and Winston got a ship name? Let me know!), it leaves one pondering how long this equilibrium can last. We’ve moved beyond senseless, barely plausible deaths in finales – for the most part – but it has been some time since a significant character from the core cast departed the series under fictional circumstances.

I don’t want to guess, but it’s clear that I have developed feelings for all of these interns, and I can’t bear the thought of them leaving. If you also share concerns about Blue, I invite you to join our virtual support group meetings in advance. I’ll be happy to contribute some snacks.
