Porsche Tests Next-Gen 911 GT3 R in Spa Endurance Race

Porsche is gearing up for the next step in the development of its 911 GT3 R model by participating in an important endurance trial this coming weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. This new customer racing car will be put to the test during the Michelin 12H Spa-Francorchamps, scheduled for April 19–20. The challenging conditions of a split-format endurance race organized by the Creventic 24H Series will provide the upcoming vehicle with real-world stress testing.

Car number 91, jointly created with Herberth Motorsport, will be piloted by Laurin Heinrich, the current IMSA GTD Pro Champion, along with veteran racers Ralf Bohn and Alfred Renauer. This three-member team will face Spa’s challenging track layout over a duration of five hours on Saturday, followed by another seven hours on Sunday for a grueling race.

As a dedicated gamer, I can tell you that participating in this particular competition is like diving into an advanced gaming level. The high skill level of the competitors, the limited timeframe, and the challenging circuit make it the perfect stage for fine-tuning my virtual vehicle. Sebastian Golz, Project Manager of the 911 GT3 R, agrees. For the upcoming 2026 model, improvements have been made to reduce sensitivity in pitch control, enhance front-end performance, install software upgrades, and refine the steering system – all elements that are crucial for a smoother gaming experience.

This summer, the car is anticipated to make its public premiere, upholding the tradition of a vehicle that has previously clinched victories in WEC, IMSA, DTM, and Le Mans.
