A$AP Rocky and Ray-Ban Debut “Blacked Out” Collection

After A$AP Rocky was named the first creative director for Ray-Ban in February, the brand has introduced his initial line of sunglasses, called “The Blacked Out” Collection. By reinventing three iconic Ray-Ban shapes with striking design changes and dark lenses, this debut collection from Rocky with the eyewear company is a powerful set of classic styles that never go out of fashion.

The assortment showcases the progression of Ray-Ban styles over time, with each style having its unique feel. The Mega Clubmaster has a very vintage vibe, characterized by gold-tinted metal accents on the bridge and lower parts of the frame. Following this, the Mega Wayfarer embodies mid-century aesthetics with its all-acetate construction. Lastly, the Mega Balorama is modern and reminiscent of the Y2K trend, blending well with today’s popular sporty styles. Common traits include gold-plated details and an added AWGE tattoo-style emblem that represents Rocky’s creative agency. Each purchase also includes a special case featuring an A$AP Rocky 1000-dollar bill design.

In February, Rocky expressed, “I’ve long admired how Ray-Ban manages to preserve its core values while also embracing change. I’m thrilled to contribute to such a rich history and write the next installment for a legendary brand like Ray-Ban,” in a statement. It is anticipated that Rocky’s role within the brand will go beyond eyewear, as the creative director takes charge of campaigns and redesigns Ray-Ban stores, merging the worlds of music, fashion, and art.

You can grab the “Blacked Out” collection by A$AP Rocky for Ray-Ban right now at certain EssilorLuxottica outlets or on their online store, priced at $266 USD for each item.
