Isuzu Unleashes Futuristic Restomod With Dragonmax Revival

At this year’s Bangkok International Motorshow, Isuzu introduced a modern take on an old favorite with the debut of the Dragonmax Restomod. This is a daring homage to the treasured 1988 TFR pickup truck. By skillfully combining classic allure with contemporary enhancements, the Dragonmax embodies Isuzu’s “Trusted Buddy” philosophy—staying true to its reliable nature while embracing the future.

This restomod boasts a “Katana Matte Silver” body with expansive fender flares, a sleek ducktail rear spoiler, and muscular-style side skirts. The updated front end showcases a fresh bumper, grille, hood, and LED projector headlights equipped with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), creating a contemporary, bold appearance. The widebody rear bed and LED taillights complete the metamorphosis.

The Dragonmax sports an upgraded suspension and steering system below its frame. This upgrade includes Profender Queen Series shocks with a piggyback design, a fresh rack and pinion setup, and Brembo disc brakes (340 mm at the front, 320 mm at the rear). It rides on 17-inch Bradley-V wheels, enclosed by 225/50 Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 tires.

Inside, you’ll find a blend of sporty elegance: Recaro Premium Classic seats with Alcantara trim, a tailored front console, an AIM MXT digital display of 10 inches, and an Android infotainment screen of 11.8 inches, connected to ECU Shop’s Ultra Boost control unit, showing live performance data in real-time. The Dragonmax is propelled by the latest 2.2 Ddi MAXFORCE diesel engine, finely tuned by BRD to deliver 220 hp and 550 Nm of torque, which is managed through ECU Shop’s Boost Speed Next electronic throttle system.
