For the Spring/Summer season of 2025, sports apparel brand Umbro, known for its style influence spanning over a century on and off the playing field, introduces its Manchester-inspired “Northern Quarter” collection, bringing it back to its hometown.

In the wake of the latest blokecore trend sweeping the fashion world, the brand has remained committed to its rich history, leading the resurgence of classic sports attire from its archives and bolstering its presence by collaborating with highly desired brands such as Palace, Supreme, and others.

This season’s line, Umbro draws inspiration from its origins, as it introduces a series that echoes the energetic essence of Manchester. Named after and inspired by the city’s artistic district, the Northern Quarter, Umbro explores its rich history while embracing a contemporary design approach to reinterpret some of its iconic shapes in a modern context. “Manchester has always been part of Umbro’s identity,” explains Helene Hope, Head of Global Brand Marketing. “For this collection, we’ve tapped into the spirit of the Northern Quarter to make timeless sportswear pieces appealing for streetwear enthusiasts today.

Among the standout items in the lineup is a Wind Jacket with a Zip-Off Sleeve, designed with inspiration from the England football team’s memorable track jacket during the 1998 World Cup. This updated version comes equipped with innovative features like detachable sleeves and a hidden hood that can be adjusted to suit different weather conditions. Additionally, you’ll find collared jerseys, long-sleeved tops, as well as a duo comprising Washed Drill Tops and Washed Diamond Drill Sweatshirts that transport the collection back to the ’90s with their vintage fabric construction made from washed cotton and practical pockets. Furthermore, the color scheme running throughout the collection, which includes white, red, black, and charcoal gray, is a tribute to some of Umbro’s most iconic archive designs.
