Tracy Morgan to Star in New NBC Comedy From Tina Fey and ’30 Rock’ Producers

Tina Fey is teaming up once more with Tracy Morgan in a brand new NBC comedy series, joined by other producers who worked on their former show “30 Rock”, including Robert Carlock, one of the co-showrunners, and Sam Means, a writer. Eric Gurian and David Miner are also part of this new project, collaborating with Fey to bring the series to life.

Based on Variety’s report, Morgan is likely to take on a role as a fallen football player seeking redemption in a potential new comedy series on NBC, which is being helmed by Rhys Thomas in the director’s chair and serving as an executive producer. This project hails from Universal Television, along with production companies Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts. If the show gets greenlit for broadcast, it will air on NBC.

Previously, it was revealed that Morgan would appear in the spinoff of CBS’ show “The Neighborhood,” titled “Crutch.” In this upcoming series, Morgan portrays Cedric the Entertainer’s cousin, Calvin Butler. Notably, Morgan worked alongside Tina Fey on NBC’s hit sitcom “30 Rock” from 2006 to 2013, where he earned an Emmy nomination for his role as Tracy Jordan. Before joining the cast of “30 Rock,” Morgan was a part of “Saturday Night Live” for seven seasons. In 2023, he released a stand-up special called “Tracy Morgan: Takin’ It Too Far” on Max. The release date for this new comedy series’ pilot has yet to be announced.
