If you’re fond of antique wax figurines, old temple statues springing to life, and skeletons brought back by an ancient enchanted artifact, today or tonight could be particularly exciting! The classic movie “Night at the Museum” is being revived.
According to reports, Shawn Levy’s production company, 21 Laps Entertainment, is working on a new Night at the Museum film for 20th Century Studios. Notably, Levy directed all three prior installments in the series. The latest script is being written by Tripper Clancy, whose past screenwriting accomplishments include Stuber and Die Hart.
In the upcoming project, Levy and 21 Laps Dan Levine are working on a fresh take or revamp of the series, but it seems that very little else from the original will carry over. Although there’s no detailed summary available yet, the movie is set to introduce new characters. As for the location, it’s uncertain whether it will revisit the Museum of Natural History in New York, as this was where the first film took place – an adaptation of Milan Trenc’s 1993 children’s book.
Starting with a fresh set of actors could prove an engaging dilemma. This might require recruiting well-known actors from Hollywood if this new installment hopes to rival the initial films. Ben Stiller previously portrayed the night guard who discovers that his museum’s exhibits become alive after dark, first appearing as Larry Daley in the 2006 film and subsequently in 2009’s “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” and 2014’s “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
In all three movies, Robin Williams played Teddy Roosevelt. The series also featured notable actors such as Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Rami Malek, Amy Adams, Hank Azaria, Carla Gugino, Bill Hader, Dan Stevens, Ricky Gervais, Rebel Wilson, Christopher Guest, Jon Bernthal, Ben Kingsley, and Crystal the Monkey.
Could any actor repeat their character’s performance in this latest chapter of the Night at the Museum saga? Those who follow the series are well aware that the museum’s closure brings about endless possibilities.
