Mariah Carey not having the Christmas season she wished she was having

As a long-time fan of Mariah Carey, I’ve been fortunate enough to witness her Christmas magic live multiple times. Her performances are more than just concerts; they’re festive spectacles that transform the ordinary into extraordinary. So, when she had to cancel several shows due to illness, it was disappointing news for us fans.

Mariah Carey is undeniably one of the top-selling female musicians in history, often referred to as the undisputed “Queen of Christmas.” Her iconic holiday song, “All I Want for Christmas is You,” holds the title as the best-selling Christmas track worldwide. In digital sales alone, this track has achieved platinum status an impressive 16 times. Moreover, her holiday performances are legendary, not mere concerts but spectacular events showcasing her style and flair.

This holiday season, Carey’s performance schedule hasn’t been as busy as anticipated due to her being unwell. Unfortunately, it seems she’s down with the flu. However, this illness is thankfully not serious, but for those fans who had purchased tickets and gifted them as early Christmas presents in several cities, their thoughtful gesture has unfortunately gone unused.

On the unfortunate twist of events last December 11th, I had to scrap my Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania gig due to unexpected health complications. The news broke just a few short hours before showtime. Following this, I regretfully canceled performances on December 13th in Newark, New Jersey, and December 15th in Belmont Park, New York, as I was still recovering.

Mariah Carey’s illness causes her to cancel several Christmas concerts

On her short holiday tour, Carey has just one performance left remaining. Luckily for residents of Newark and Belmont Park, they won’t need to travel far to catch this final show, as she’s set to perform at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on December 17th.

Fans won’t get the full live experience, but they’ll have the opportunity to watch Mariah Carey perform on Netflix during their NFL Christmas Day coverage. Her performance has been prerecorded and will be part of the opening show before the two games featured by Netflix on Christmas. Rest assured, her pre-recorded Christmas song is expected to be remarkable.

Moreover, you can expect the entertainer to return around Christmas time for a short series of appearances. In some ways, she’s similar to old Saint Nick. Much like he delivers presents annually, she provides us with delightful performances at regular intervals, and her fans eagerly await these events with excitement.
