As a gamer with a vast understanding of pop culture, I find myself deeply dismayed by Andrew Schulz’s recent remarks towards Kendrick Lamar and O’Shea Jackson Jr. It’s 2024, and we should be past the era of such offensive and insensitive jokes, especially when they involve sensitive topics like sexual assault.
Comedian Andrew Schulz is facing criticism after making jokes involving the alleged sexual assault of Kendrick Lamar. Now, O’Shea Jackson Jr., son of rap legend Ice Cube, has spoken out against Schulz for his comments.
This month, Schulz addressed what appeared to be a call-out from Kendrick on his song “wacced out murals,” off the latest GNX album. In the lyrics, Kendrick raps, “Don’t let any white comedian talk about any Black woman; that’s against the rules.
In his podcast, Schulz defended himself against Kendrick’s criticism by arguing that rappers frequently disregard women in their lyrics, implying that Kenduck should not judge him. However, he went a step further and made a controversial statement suggesting a sexual encounter with Kendrick, stating, “I could seduce him, and the only choice he would have is to decide whether it’s consensual or not.
In response to the joke, Jackson Jr. labeled Schulz as “unusual.” This prompted Schulz to bring up the 1991 diss song “No Vaseline,” which was created by Ice Cube, Jackson Jr.’s father. It appears that, according to Schulz’s logic, Ice Cube also mentioned allegations of sexual assault against rappers in this song, a claim that Jackson Jr. refuted.
Jacson Jr. wrote that using a business analogy about being taken advantage of by your manager isn’t the same thing, friend. He didn’t call you disrespectful names, he didn’t curse at you personally, and he didn’t mention your name. However, your reaction was surprising and hard to comprehend.
After being advised to let go of the matter with Schulz, Jackson Jr. later posted another message on Twitter: ‘My tweet was from two days back. He mentioned my father, and I couldn’t help but respond? There’s no ongoing feud. I merely didn’t agree with his statement.’
Two days ago, I posted something, and his comment brought up my father, which left me without a response. However, there’s nothing contentious about it. I simply wasn’t comfortable with the remark.
