Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon pull off perfect parody of Creed

As a long-time fan of Jimmy Fallon and a connoisseur of absurd humor, I must say that the recent skit featuring Jon Hamm on The Tonight Show was a delightful dose of silliness in my otherwise monotonous life. Having grown up in the heyday of Creed’s popularity (and endured more than my fair share of their music), I found myself chuckling uncontrollably as these two talented gentlemen paid homage to the band that time forgot.

There are certain days when a touch of playfulness seems essential. Moments devoid of serious contemplation, where we can simply appreciate and revel in joy. Sometimes, we might not laugh as much as we should, and then stumble upon something unexpected that brings a smile to our face. A fantastic instance of this is a video clip from last week’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, featuring guest Jon Hamm.

Regardless of whether you’re a fan or not of the band Creed and its vocalist Scott Stapp, this video is worth checking out. For those who appreciate them, it could be seen as an affectionate tribute. On the other hand, for those who aren’t fans, it might offer a bit of amusement instead.

Fallon and Hamm share a longstanding acquaintanceship. The main character from “Mad Men” has graced The Tonight Show, hosted by Fallon, a total of 12 times since his tenure began. They’ve also appeared together at various functions, such as when Tina Fey received the Mark Twain Prize, where they were both involved.

Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon make Creed’s “With Arms Wide Open” a bearable listen

The Hamm and Fallon video starts by showing them conversing on the set of The Tonight Show, where Fallon recalls their shared past in Creed. As “With Arms Wide Open” by Creed begins playing, Hamm is first seen in a yellow shirt and long hair, singing along to the lyrics. Notably, Fallon follows suit, creating two distinct Scott Stapp characters within the clip.

At the closing moments of the video, Fallon and Hamm are seen standing together, simultaneously signing and unexpectedly extracting various snacks from each other’s garments. This peculiar scene aligns with the overall tone of the video, adding a touch of humor that arises from its quirkiness.

Indeed, Creed’s initial music video for the song appears unusual, as well. In the video, Stapp maintains an open stance, yet there are also instances of meteor showers and a medieval castle. If this scene doesn’t seem coherent to you, it might be intentional. After all, humor could be the underlying intention. At least, the Hamm and Fallon clip is amusing.
