She also revealed to the audience that the concept for the track materialized while she was resting in bed following a day of concert rehearsals.
A song about healing after divorce
Jennifer Lopez disclosed that the previous year posed significant challenges for her, encompassing both personal and professional aspects. Last August marked the submission of divorce papers from Ben Affleck, which coincided with their second wedding anniversary. Furthermore, Lopez was forced to postpone her tour due to a need to devote time to her own well-being.
Rivera mentioned that Lopez referred to “Wreckage of You” as a song about overcoming something difficult, explaining it as a recently composed and recorded pop ballad. He added that Lopez shared the inspiration behind the song arose during a restful moment following a tough day, when she was lying in bed.

Looking back on that period in my life, I found myself thinking, ‘This isn’t what I expected,'” Lopez commented. “But then I realized, ‘This is actually where I was supposed to be, guiding me towards where I want to end up.’ It wasn’t easy and it came close to knocking me off my feet completely.
She remarked, “Reflecting on it now, I find myself saying, ‘Wow, that was precisely what I required. Thank you, Universe. I apologize for my delay in understanding. I regret that I made you repeat this lesson so many times. I should have grasped it two or three times earlier. It seems like you had to hammer the point home forcefully. You knocked down a building on me. No need to do it again.’
