Mahershala Ali avoids addressing details about the problematic revival of Marvel’s Blade, as yet without a confirmed premiere date.
In the promotion for “Jurassic World: Rebirth” now playing in cinemas, the two-time Academy Award winner recently featured with Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey on Vogue’s informal YouTube chat show, “Off the Cuff.” During a lively question-and-answer session, Bailey inquired about the number of Marvel Cinematic Universe films each actor had been part of.
Ali laughed off the question and replied, “Leave me out of it. That’s a Scarlett question.”

What’s going on with Blade?
At Comic-Con 2019, it was initially revealed that Ali would take on the role of Blade, however, the movie has been stalled in production since then.
Initial plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film centered around a period piece involving Blade’s daughter stepping into his role, but it’s claimed that Ali wasn’t supportive of this narrative. The production has faced numerous delays, and despite changes in writers and directors, there remains no definite start date.
It’s been verified that Ryan Coolger utilized the Blade costumes in his Sinners film, suggesting that the period-style adaptation of Blade may no longer be in development.
David S. Goyer, who originally penned the scripts for the Wesley Snipes films, disclosed that Marvel declined his offers to collaborate with them on their projects.
Is Ali still playing Blade?
In relation to his publicity for Jurassic World, Ali recently expressed to the media, “Reach out to Marvel; I’m all set. Make sure they know I’m eager.” However, Marvel has yet to announce any updates, and the reboot of this project continues to be one of their most postponed productions without a confirmed release date.
