The TV series titled “Overcompensating” was conceived by author Benito Skinner, drawing inspiration from his personal experiences. This show offers a unique perspective on American colleges, focusing on the lives of two main characters: Benny, a former football king who’s hiding his true self, and Carmen, a high school outcast yearning for acceptance. With the aid of Benny’s older sibling, they navigate their college journey filled with false IDs, parties, heavy doses of vodka, and all the challenges that come along with it.
Skinner hinted at Charli’s upcoming appearance on the show via Instagram, indicating that season 1 has wrapped up. The story itself is humorous but touches quite personally on the question of why and how people try too hard and try to be who they are not.
