Lux Pascal is making significant strides in her acting profession. She’s an accomplished actress having trained at Juilliard, and moreover, she shares the limelight with her famous brother Pedro Pascal, currently one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors. Now, she’s gearing up for her debut as a leading actress in a film.
The film titled “Miss Carbón” is slated to arrive on Netflix in the U.S. towards the end of this year, having premiered initially in Spanish theaters. Set in 2008 and inspired by real events, the movie chronicles the life of Carlita Rodríguez, a transgender woman who made history as the first female coal miner in Río Turbio, Argentina. Actress Lux portrays Carlita, expressing initial hesitation about accepting the role.
Admitting a hint of apprehension, I found myself drawn to this role due to my yearning for new artistic horizons as an actress. Despite having essayed multiple female characters during my time at Juilliard, I hesitated as the narrative centers around Carlita’s transition, a subject matter unfamiliar to me.
Upon getting acquainted with the genuine Carlita and delving deeper into her story, I found myself reconsidering my initial stance. “Her aura of disillusionment over life’s treatment of her,” I realized, was something I couldn’t help but be captivated by. “I felt compelled to reveal that sometimes, such sorrow is undeniably evident and unconcealable.
In a similar vein, Lux identifies as a resilient individual, much like Carlita. Raised in Orange County, California, as the youngest among four siblings, she endured hardships from an early age. Her father fled Chile during the Pinochet regime, and her mother tragically passed away when Lux was just seven years old. She candidly admitted, “We all carry scars,” emphasizing, “I know my own pain, but I’ve overcome it.
As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve embarked on my first significant role in an English-language romantic comedy titled “Love & Chaos.” This captivating production is being filmed in the vibrant city of Montreal. The director, Drew Denny, has praised me as a keen listener with a wickedly amusing sense of humor. However, I’m not just content with indie films; my ambitions extend far beyond that horizon. I’m aiming for the stars, and by that, I mean aspiring to be part of the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Lux expressed her strong affinity towards playing the character of Jean Grey from the X-Men, stating, “I feel such a profound resonance with her, both in terms of her physical and mental aspects, and how she transforms into the Phoenix after being tainted by the world.” She has honed her skills in martial arts and eagerly awaits an opportunity to enter the realm of superheroes soon.
As a cinephile, I’ve got a soft spot not just for Marvel, but for horror flicks too, and I must confess, I’ve always secretly harbored a desire to play an elf in The Lord of the Rings – though I did joke that I’d rather be an elf assassin!
Absolutely, she’s looking forward to collaborating with her brother Pedro in the future. Interestingly, Pedro is set to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) soon as part of the Fantastic Four. She expressed that it would be wonderful to finally discuss their shared dreams about movies, which they used to imagine when she was a child and he was a young adult. Pedro is already a fan of Miss Carbón, and he feels that working with her will be like rehearsing for something special.
Ever since I’ve been a fan, I’ve eagerly anticipated the X-Men’s journey within the Marvel Universe. Fast forward to 2019, when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made it official: mutants were on their way to the MCU. He hinted that we could expect the term “mutants” and “X-Men” in a refreshingly unique context compared to previous Fox films. Their rendition of the team promises an exciting shift!
The long-awaited X-Men film is now making progress, with Marvel initiating discussions with writers as early as 2023. By 2024, Michael Lesslie emerged as a potential scriptwriter, later officially confirmed in 2025. Now, Jake Schreier, known for his work on the Thunderbolts project, has been selected to direct the upcoming film, expected to release in 2025. Fans are already buzzing with anticipation over this promising development.
*Note: The movie “Thunderbolts” is not yet officially confirmed but was mentioned as a previous work of Jake Schreier.
As the pieces fall into place, fans can’t help but speculate about who will take on the roles of the renowned characters, with Jean Grey being a particular point of interest. Here’s hoping that Kevin Feige keeps a keen eye on these discussions.
