Sally Field Shares How Robin Williams Adjusted Mrs Doubtfire Filming to Help Her After Her Father Died: ‘He Made It Happen’

As a 90’s kid who grew up with the charm of Mrs. Doubtfire, hearing about Sally Field’s heart-wrenching experience during the filming of this iconic movie brings a mix of emotions. It’s hard not to admire Robin Williams for his compassion and sensitivity towards Field in her time of grief, setting an example of humanity that goes beyond the silver screen.

Reminds everyone of the well-known movie, Mrs. Doubtfire? This is a film that ’90s kids would surely remember. Interestingly, Sally Field, who played Miranda Hillard in the movie, recently revealed to Vanity Fair that Robin Williams, the late producer and lead actor, had arranged for her to depart from the film during its production when she lost her father.

In a camper outside the courtroom where a divorce scene was being filmed, I received the devastating news about my father’s stroke, followed by a call confirming his passing. Overwhelmed, I struggled to perform on set. Robin approached me, concerned, and asked if I was alright. “I wasn’t crying,” I responded.

When Field finally informed Williams that her father had passed away, she was left speechless and organized her departure. “He even ensured I was given extra time off the court for the remainder of the day,” she continued.

In the interview, Field mentioned she would leave to sort things out with her brother at home. She described him as a particularly perceptive and empathetic individual. On the set, Williams was recognized for his kind and charitable nature.

Lisa Jakub, who played the eldest daughter of Williams’ character during her teenage years in the movie, shared with Fox News Digital earlier this year that it was Williams who initially discussed mental health issues with her while they were collaborating on the film. This was the first time someone had openly talked about such struggles with her.

On August 11, 2014, Robin Williams tragically took his own life at Paradise Cay, California. Reputable sources such as ATI, Deadline, and others reported that the cause of death was suicide by hanging, resulting in asphyxia.

In the time leading up to his passing, Robin Williams faced a number of health problems and setbacks in his career, according to Itzkoff’s account.

As per ATI’s findings, Williams was battling depression. An unexpected result from his autopsy revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, but he actually had Lewy body dementia. This condition might have contributed to the distressing symptoms he experienced before his tragic death by suicide and intense suffering. At the time of his demise, no suicide note was left behind.
