She stated, “I’m accepting this award not as an ending, but as a motivation—a reminder of my obligations, the potential that still exists, and all that I still need to accomplish.”
The event honored other accomplished individuals like Angela Bassett and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and showcased recent films such as Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. For Hudson, it was a special night acknowledging her impressive career and continued growth in Hollywood.
Jennifer Hudson will return to Dreamgirls – the movie that made her famous – but this time as a producer for its 2026 Broadway comeback. The show will be directed and choreographed by Camille A. Brown, a historic choice as she’s the first Black woman in over 60 years to hold both those roles for a Broadway musical.
Hudson shared that the film Dreamgirls dramatically changed her life twenty years ago, and she’s thrilled to be part of the producing team for this new version on Broadway.
Fans can also catch Hudson on tour across North America with Josh Groban, starting in June. They’ll be performing at famous locations like Madison Square Garden and Allstate Arena. The shows will include both Hudson’s popular songs and some brand new music, creating a special and close-up concert experience.
