On April 8, 1974, Derek Emmanuel Barbosa, better known as Chino XL, entered the world. Throughout his musical journey, he has produced and released a total of four studio albums.

1996 saw the debut of his first album titled “Here To Save You All”. Following this, he put out “I Told You So” in 2001, “Poison Pen” in 2006, and “Ricanstruction: The Black Rosary” in 2012.

2012 saw Chino XL’s album earning him the HHUG Album of the Year Award, adding another feather to his successful rap career. However, this multi-talented artist is not just a prominent figure in the music world; he has also showcased his acting skills across multiple films and TV series. His charisma has been featured on Comedy Central’s Reno 911 several times, as well as on the critically acclaimed CBS series CSI: Miami.

According to his Wikipedia profile, it’s said that Chino XL passed away on July 29, 2024. As of now, the reason for his death remains undisclosed. However, his friends have been seen honoring him on social media platforms, as reported by Just Jared.

On X, now known as Twitter, Chuck D expressed that the No Slow Rollin artist was more than just a colleague in rap and art for him. He boosted my graphic designs and we exchanged artistic resources. He stood guard over my lyric manuscripts. He attended my shows, and I reciprocated by promoting his music.
