At Seed Media, a new multimedia firm led by a high-ranking ex-Google and Recording Academy executive, Valeisha Butterfield, serves as the producer for their initial venture. In this role, she’ll contribute her expertise to tell genuine stories about women in corporate settings.
According to Forbes and the Women in the Workplace report, women leaders are quitting their jobs at an unprecedented rate. In response, trailblazers from the entertainment and music industries have joined forces to create a thought-provoking short film on this pressing topic.
As a seasoned film industry professional with years of experience under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for exciting new projects that showcase fresh voices and diverse perspectives. The Memo, currently in post-production, is one such project that catches my attention.
Kyla Pratt discusses the film
In an interview with Variety, the film’s main actress, Pratt, shared that the book and script deeply moved her from start to finish. As a Black mother bringing up daughters, she was thrilled to embody the role of a powerful corporate woman of color. Her response to being cast as Minda Harts in “Seed’s” production was an enthusiastic affirmation.
She strongly emphasized the importance of sharing genuine stories and well-developed characters that have the power to make people feel recognized and freed. “I’m humbled to be the one bringing this inspiring tale to fruition,” she remarked.
Butterfield asserts that “The Memo” is one of the most captivating books for women in the workforce that has ever been published. According to Harts, the narrative presented in both the book and the movie is seldom shared, leaving women feeling disconnected and powerless.
