A few years ago, it was announced that the video game Dead by Daylight would be made into a movie. We expected production to begin quickly, especially with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster involved. However, things stalled until recently. Now, the movie adaptation seems to be back on track, as the production company has hired writers.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, David Leslie Johnston-McGoldrick and Alexandre Aja are writing the screenplay for the Dead by Daylight movie. Johnston-McGoldrick has previously collaborated with James Wan on several The Conjuring films. Aja, known for directing the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, won’t be directing this movie, and producers are currently searching for a director.
Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse, praised David and Alexandre’s contribution to Dead by Daylight, calling it a unique combination of compelling characters and intense horror. He explained that their work, inspired by survival horror and psychological thrillers, creates a truly frightening world. Blum believes their vision is like a detailed plan for a movie, designed to draw in a director who can bring it to life with strong acting and a larger scope.
We’ll have to wait a bit longer for news about actors, trailers, and other exciting details. However, the good news is that the Dead by Daylight movie, produced by Blumhouse, is still happening.
