As a dedicated fan of Tenacious D, I was absolutely shocked and dismayed by Kyle Gass’s recent remarks about the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump during their show in Sydney, Australia. I was initially relieved when I heard that he had issued an apology, acknowledging the gravity of his words and expressing remorse for any harm caused. However, I was disheartened to learn that this apology seems to have been deleted from his social media account.
Kyle Gass, a member of Tenacious D, appears to have taken down his apology message regarding his comments about the attempted assassination of ex-US President Donald Trump.
On July 15, 2019, the day following an assassination attempt on Trump, Tenacious D performed in Sydney, Australia. This happened to be Gass’s 64th birthday. To celebrate, Jack Black serenaded him with “Happy Birthday” songs and asked for a wish. In response, Gass jokingly said, “Don’t forget about Trump next time.” This comment sparked controversy, leading an Australian politician to intervene. Eventually, Gass issued an apology, which was later deleted.
A look at Kyle Gass’s apology for the Trump assassination attempt remark
I deeply regret the incident that unfolded on stage during my performance in Sydney last Sunday. The words that came out of me were inappropriate, dangerous, and a grave error in judgment. I want to make it clear that I unequivocally condemn any form of violence or harm inflicted upon others.
After an Australian politician proposed their expulsion, an apology from Gass emerged. Yet, it seems that his apology post has now been taken down.
After the uproar over Trump’s comments, Gass’s band decided to call off the rest of their tour. Joining him on stage at the time was Jack Black, who later expressed his disapproval of Gass’s remarks through an Instagram post. Not only did they cancel the remaining shows in Australia and New Zealand, but they also suspended all future collaborative projects. The band had planned to perform six more shows Down Under before touring North America in October.
Other celebrities who reacted to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump
Notable figures in Hollywood such as 50 Cent, M.I.A, Kid Rock, and Freddie Gibbs have spoken out against the assassination attempt on the businessman-turned-politician, Donald Trump. Last weekend, Trump managed to avoid harm when a bullet meant for him missed and hit his left ear instead. Secret Service agents swiftly apprehended the 20-year-old would-be assassin.
On the topic of American politics, an intriguing headline surfaced on July 21, as Joe Biden made two significant announcements: first, his decision to withdraw from the presidential race, and second, his selection of Vice President Kamala Harris to take over the candidacy for him.
