Logan Paul Defends Puerto Ricans After Jake Paul’s Bad Bunny Post Ignites Firestorm

A family feud between Logan and Jake Paul has become public after they disagreed online about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance.

The issue started just before the halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in California. Posts on X (formerly Twitter) indicate that Jake Paul asked his fans to stop watching the performance.

I recently came across a pretty strong online post urging people to boycott the Super Bowl halftime show. The author was essentially calling for a collective action, arguing that we, the viewers, give these huge corporations all the power and they need to understand there are consequences if they don’t listen to us – and those consequences are ratings. It was a direct plea to ‘turn off this halftime’ as a form of protest. But it didn’t stop there. The post then took a really divisive turn, specifically calling out the performer as someone who isn’t a ‘real American citizen’ and publicly expresses dislike for the country, which immediately sparked a huge amount of criticism and backlash.

Let’s make a statement to large corporations by intentionally skipping the halftime show. Remember, your viewership is what drives their success, and you have the power to influence them. By turning off the show, we can show them there are consequences for their actions. This is about rejecting a manufactured spectacle.

The online response was quick, with many people noting that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and its people are U.S. citizens. Several also pointed out that Jake has been living in Puerto Rico since 2021. His brother, Logan Paul, publicly disagreed, writing, “I love my brother but I don’t agree with this. Puerto Ricans are Americans & I’m happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island.”

I care about my brother, even though we don’t share the same views on this matter. I’m also thrilled that Puerto Ricans, as American citizens, had the chance to share their incredible talents with everyone.

Look, I felt I needed to explain myself better after what I said. The next morning, I sent a message to clarify that I absolutely wasn’t trying to say anyone wasn’t a real citizen just because they’re from Puerto Rico. I actually live in Puerto Rico, I adore the island, and I’ve consistently used my voice to support it – and I always will.

He explained that he’ll always address public criticism of ICE while they’re working, and express his disapproval of anyone openly disrespecting the United States. He believes that if someone gains advantages from a country and its opportunities, they shouldn’t simultaneously criticize it – that feels disingenuous.

Let me be clear: I absolutely did not mean to imply anyone wasn’t a real citizen just because they’re from Puerto Rico! I actually live here, and I adore this island. I’ve consistently used my voice to support Puerto Rico, and I always will. However, when people start publicly attacking ICE for what they’re doing…

Despite speaking out in support of Puerto Ricans, Logan had previously stated he wasn’t looking forward to the halftime show. He simply said “No” when Fox News asked him about it.

Bad Bunny has publicly discussed immigration issues in the U.S. Following Donald Trump’s return to the presidency in 2024, the artist voiced his disapproval of the increased activity of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

He explained that he recently avoided touring the mainland U.S. due to concerns that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) might target his shows. He brought up the issue again at the Grammy Awards, stating, “ICE out. We’re not savage, not animals, not aliens—we are humans and Americans.” He urged viewers to respond with love instead of hate, saying, “Love is more powerful than hate. We need to be different. If we fight, let it be with love. We don’t hate—we love our people, our families. That’s the way to do it—with love. Please remember that.”

As a huge fan, I was blown away by the halftime show! The artist really showcased Latin culture, and brought out some amazing guests – Pedro Pascal, Karol G, Jessica Alba, Cardi B, and even Ricky Martin! There was this incredibly powerful moment where he looked right into the camera and said, “God Bless America,” but then he followed it up by naming so many countries throughout the Americas while dancers proudly waved their flags. It felt like a beautiful celebration of everyone, not just one nation, and it really resonated with me.
