The Elder Scrolls 6 Fans Losing It Over New Xbox Leak: “It’s So Over”

Waiting eight years for a game feels like a very long time. It’s fair to say that a game announced way back in June 2018 should be available to play now. That’s exactly what’s happening with The Elder Scrolls 6 – Todd Howard revealed it at E3 years ago, and fans are still eagerly awaiting its release.

It’s understandable that fans were hoping to see some kind of preview – even a short trailer – by now. Unfortunately, a recent leak suggests anyone expecting The Elder Scrolls 6 to come out in 2026 will likely be disappointed. According to a report from The Verge, there’s nothing indicating the game is planned for release on Xbox that year, meaning the wait for a new Elder Scrolls game continues.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Isn’t Mentioned In New Xbox Leaks

No Sign of Skyrim Sequel

While a leaked Xbox timeline has revealed some exciting upcoming games, there’s no sign of The Elder Scrolls 6. There are no plans to begin development mentioned, and no hints of trailers or gameplay footage. This likely means the game is still years away, which is disappointing news for fans of Skyrim and RPGs in general. Although the Switch 2 will offer some Elder Scrolls content, The Elder Scrolls 6 isn’t part of those plans.

Previous estimates that The Elder Scrolls 6 would be released by June 2026 were clearly too hopeful and inaccurate. A recent leak does suggest new content is coming for Starfield, which could revitalize the game, and even a new controller, but it doesn’t indicate that we’ll be able to play The Elder Scrolls 6 in the near future.

The Fallout 3 Remaster Got Referenced, At Least…

Wasteland Adventure While We Wait

It’s frustrating that we haven’t heard much about The Elder Scrolls 6, but some recent leaks have been interesting. One exciting possibility is a remastered version of Fallout 3, which is reportedly in the works – that’s fantastic news for players who want to return to the Capital Wasteland after leaving Vault 101.

Being able to play The Enclave with updated 4K graphics on today’s computers and consoles sounds like a great way to experience this beloved game again. Releasing it this year would be perfect, especially since the second season of the TV show just finished airing and has created a lot of excitement. Bethesda recently released a new trailer, which has further built anticipation among players eager for new content.

Man, Bethesda is seriously busy this year! We’re getting Fable, a remastered Fallout 3, and even more content for Starfield. It’s awesome, but it does make me wonder about The Elder Scrolls 6… it feels like it’s getting further and further away. I’m really hoping they don’t take forever to finish it, like that whole Duke Nukem Forever saga. Seriously, let’s just hope it doesn’t end up anything like that game!
